Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo Flooring is a fairly new concept that is gaining enormous popularity in the design market. Bamboo has been used for centuries as a construction material, with its unique and environmentally friendly properties it has more recently been engineered for flooring.

Bamboo Flooring is suitable for both formal and casual rooms and compliments any decor. There is almost a limitless choice of styles, designs, stains and finishes making Bamboo Floors one of the most versitile and practical choices available to consumers.

Bamboo Flooring is installed similar to traditional wood floors. The Bamboo planks have tongue and groove edges and come pre-finished. It is best to allow the Bamboo planks to acclimatise for approximately 72 hours prior to installation. Simply open both ends of the boxes which will allow adjustment to the humidity in your home.

Proper maintenance is the key to lasting beauty of your Bamboo Floors. The floor should be mopped, dusted, vacuumed or swept with a soft bristle brush to remove all dirt and grit at regular intervals. Placing mats at exterior doorways and rugs in high traffic areas can reduce a lot of surface damage.

Kitchens are a high traffic zone in any house so placing area rugs in front of the sink and stove will prevent premature wear and tear of your flooring. Also using felt glider pads on the bottom of chairs and other furniture will help prevent scratching.

Bamboo is more resistant to moisture than most hardwood flooring. Whilst keeping this in mid it is recommended to clean spills immediately. If left for an extended period the liquid may seep into the flooring resulting in a deep stain which may be difficult or impossible to remove. There is no need to wax your Bamboo Floors, unless of course you are prepared to continue waxing for the life of your floor.

When high traffic areas start to look dull and patchy it is time for the floor refinishing to be done. Always follow the suppliers or manufacturers directions and recommendations.
