Polished Concrete Flooring
If you are talking 'flavour of the year' Polished Concrete Flooring would have to be IT! Polished Concrete is relatively easy to install, it is very hardwearing, requires low maintenance, is cost effective, looks fantastic and lasts a lifetime.
Polished Concrete Flooring is divided into two categories: new floors and retrofit floors.
New floors require less work hence lower installation costs, but there are a couple of things you should be aware of before your floor can be polished. First the slab needs a decorative aggregate. The two most common being black bassalt mix and river stone, however you can use almost any aggragate. The surface finish of the concrete needs to be of a high standard to facilitate the polishing process.
There are two options for the retrofit floors. The existing slab can be sanded and the existing aggregate will be the feature or a toping slab of 50mm can be added and you can have the aggregate of your choice.
Polished Concrete Flooring will not dent or chip like softer flooring and mopping with hot soapy water once a week is all the maintenance required. A reseal every year is recommended similar to other hardwood flooring.
